Europe: 1,2 million abortions in 2007

In Europe, in 2007, over 1,200,000 abortions have been registered, this is tantamount to one abortion every 25 seconds, indicated Fides Agency in Rome.
According to the Institute for Family Policy (IPF) in Spain during these past ten years more 13 millions abortions have been performed. According to the IPF, it is one of the main reasons for the demographic drop in Europe. Spain records the highest increase of cases: 126% during the last 10 years, which represents exactly 62,560 abortions more. According to the Spanish Institute, one pregnancy out of five (19%) terminates with an abortion. More than 176,000 abortions (one out of seven) i.e. 14,2% of the total amount of abortions were performed on teenagers less than 20 years old. (DICI n° 202 – 17/10/09 – Source: Fides)
